Thank you Bud Selig!

With Chien Ming Wang being sidelined for the next 10 weeks with a foot injury, the Yanks starting rotation could be in trouble. For those unaware of the situation, Wang injured his foot while running the bases in Houston. You read right... Houston! Due to Bud Selig's complete stupidity 11 years ago when he institutionalized interleague play in Major League Baseball, Yankees fans will need to sit on pins and needles for the remainder of the season hoping this injury doesn't cost the team a chance at making the post-season in the final year of Yankee Stadium.

Don't get me wrong. I am not saying the Yanks don't have a shot at the playoffs, but we can't forget that Wang has won 38 games total in 2006 and 2007. He was on pace this season to possibly hit 20 wins. On top of Wang being out, the Yanks just signed Sidney Ponson to a minor league contract. Granted it's another arm, it's an arm thats not what it was when he was with the Orioles. The Yanks are hot right now, and if the offense keeps this up, it should make for a VERY interesting second half.

Dude...what the heck??? Interleague play is great! Where else can old rivialries be renewed in MLB? Instead of ppl crossing their fingers and hoping the Yankees and Dodgers play in the series, they can see it during the regular season thanks to interleague play. Lets remember that MLB is a form of entertainment for US the fans. All you have done is give yankee fans a bad rep by making an excuse for a freak accident! That is something I would expect to hear from a fan of a certain other team in the north east, but not the Yankees. What are you going to do next? When a NL team plays in an AL park and the new DH for the NL team gets hurt are you going to blame interleague for taking him out of his element? NO! Wang had a freak accident. Maybe he should have practiced running the bases more this year. He is going to have to run in the World Series if they get that far...but according to you, its a problem if he is on the bases. You need to take a lap!

The fact that the teams rarely played each other back in the day is what makes the rivalries that much better in the post season. If the Yankees/Mets play in the World Series this year, it's exciting, yes, but not AS exciting since they already play 2 series against each other in the regular season. The Dodgers/Yankees rivalry in the 40's and 50's was incredible because they never faced each other in the regular season which made the series so suspenseful. Why take players out of their element at the expense of the fans? All interleague does is create revenue for baseball clubs. I would rather see the Yankees play a 12 game west coast trip which has a greater bearing on standings in their respected divisions. I could care less that they play the Astros, Padres, or Pirates.
