It's been awhile since my last post, and a lot has happened in the world of the Yankees. The All-Star game came and went, and the Yanks went on an 8 game tear afterwards. With the trade deadline 2 hours away (4:00 EST), the Yanks don't appear to have any surprises left after daling Kyle Farnsworth to the Detroit Tigers for Ivan 'Pudge' Rodriguez. This deal is a toss-up. Personally, I am not sure how I feel about it. Sure, Farnsworth is having his best season since 2005, but he's always been and always will be a head case. On the other end, Pudge is having a so-so year, but he's not the All-Star he was years ago. I personally would've liked to see Farnsworth stay. I like Molina behind the plate, and not playing back-up to Rodriguez. We'll just have to give it some time before we know whether or not the Yankees made the right deal.
Till next time... (and it won't be a month from now!)

What are you...some sort of quack?!? Of course you should welcome Pudge with open arms! He is a STARTING catcher...obviously you have not been keeping up with the times....I shall now fill you in...Jorge Posada was our starting catcher. He had season ending surgery! Oh no...now what? Molina is a GREAT back-up catcher, but is NOT an everyday player. Sure he guns our runners, but his role on this team is as a BACKUP.
Pudge is a 14 time ALL STAR! He can still play, and furthermore, is a STARTER! This will keep Molina fresh to spot start with pitchers and come in to play defense when Joe decides to pinch run for Pudge, like he did against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim....and what happened there? The Yankees won!
Also, Fansworth may have been having a good season numbers-wise, but he is still a choke artist. Also, two words why they did the right thing getting rid of him...BRIAN BRUNEY! Thats right, he is back.
So enough with this pessimistic attitude towards the greatest team on earth Mr. Capozzi. I really am starting to question your loyalty.
Loyalty? This coming from a fan who hopes A-Rod strikes out each time he steps to the plate. Molina did a hell of a job filling in for the injured Posada and I think if given the chance, he would've proved himself worthy to handle the everyday role.
But what you fail to realize is that he HAD the everyday role and he was hitting around .225 or less most of the time. Thats a huge gap in the lineup my friend.
I am not disputing he did well filling in, but you just said the key words...filling in....it was not his job to become the starter and so the Yanks did what they needed too...get a proven starting catcher to get the job done and keep Molina fresh.
Hmmmm, looking like Farnsworth could have been helpful they way things are going. You may be right.
