After Friday nights spring training loss to the Marlins, Yankees manager Joe Girardi announced that SP Andy Pettitte will start the 2008 season on the disable list.
From Yankees.com
"MIAMI -- Manager Joe Girardi announced after the Yankees' 5-3 loss to the Marlins on Friday that veteran left-hander Andy Pettitte would open the season on the disabled list but showed no ill effects from his recent back trouble in a Friday workout.
With a healthy effort on Sunday in a Minor League game in Tampa, Girardi said, Pettitte can solidify his spot in the starting rotation.
Girardi expects Pettitte to be ready to pitch against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays next Saturday."

T-minus 2 Days Until the Regular Season
With 2 days left until the regular season starts, the media has finally published predictions for the 2008 season. While I regularly read the NY Daily News and the NY Post, I was disheartened to see that a majority of the sports writers are predicting the Yankees to finish second and believe it or not, third. Few writers ACTUALLY believe that the Blue Jays will finish 1st in the AL East. Not to knock on these writers, but COME ON! I know I bleed the Yankees colors, but there is no way the Jays will finish ahead of the Yankees. It just won't happen.
Thankfully, Sports Illustrated has also published their annual baseball preview and are predicting the Yanks to finish 1st in the AL East, but however, lose in the ALCS to the Detroit Tigers. Granted I expect the Yanks to win it all, this prediction by SI seems the most possible. The Tigers have put together a solid team this off-season with the addition of Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle 'D-Train' Willis. I am excited to see the season start and see how these 'predictions' pan out. I'll be at the game against, of course, the Blue Jays on Thursday, April 3. Magnetic Schedule Night!
Wang is on the hill Monday afternoon for the last Opening Day in the current Yankee Stadium. Let's all hope that he has refined his sinker during spring training, and starts the season off on a high note. LET'S GO YANKEES!
