Spring Training Has Begun, and so has the Drama...

The Yankees should expect for a crazy spring training and 2009 season. The "Steroid Era" has brought upon much drama in the world of the Bronx Bombers as well as all around MLB. With A-rod coming clean, and Miguel Tejada pleading guilty to lying to Congress in regards to taking steroids, I believe the government will get much more involved in trying to clean up the sport. I'll be completely honest, I was at one time strongly against the government getting involved, but as time is going on, and more information is coming out, I believe it won't be so bad in order to bring back the integrity of the game. I mean if Babe Ruth could hit home runs eating hot dogs and drinking beer, why can't today's athletes. On top of that, the field dimensions are shorter and the mound is lower. Granted the season is longer, baseball players, especially the exceptional ones, should have no problem performing without PED's. What are your thoughts? Should the government intervene in preventing players from 'cheating'?

The government has bigger issues to deal with, like getting the economy back on track. So ppl cheated in a sport? Big deal. Families are losing their homes, poeple are losing their jobs. There are much bigger issues than MLB, NFL, NBA etc to deal with. This should be a private matter that only goes to the government if lives become at risk. I know what you are going to say..."oh, the kids though are gonna do roids and their lives are on the line." Well, this is where the sport leagues can create programs to educate the children of this country about the harms of putting a foreign substance inside of your body. Better education is the key, not wasting millions of rediculous court hearings about who did what steriod and what record should count. I can't believe you support all of this drama. What if mantle, or marris, or anyone from the old era did "greenies"? No one persued that, and no one seems to want to investigate that now. Athletes have always cheated and will always continue to cheat. Its in education where the children can be saved from the horrors that result from abusing these drugs.

18... Are you kidding me??? Education can go just so far... adults have to set an example for the children to live by. Between the greed in society today, political corruption, and pressure imposed on children, it's no wonder they resort to the actions they do in so many instances.
